PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a missing of dot detector applicable to an invisible liquid, e.g. a transparent liquid. SOLUTION: The missing of dot detector comprises a scanning mechanism 2 for irradiating the surface of a glossy paper with a spot detection light generated from a laser light source 1, a mirror 3, a condensing mirror 4 and a light receiving element group 5 receiving the detection light reflected on the surface of the glossy paper, and a main control section 11 receiving a detection signal from the light receiving element group 5. Based on the difference in the degree of scattering of light caused by micro surface state of the glossy paper, a shooting area and a non-shooting area of transparent ink are recognized.
