System for continuous online reference calibration of a spectrographic near infrared (NIR) measurement system, wherein a movable reference disk (8) is placed between a measurement head (2) and the plane (16, 17) in which passing product is inspected. The disk is rotated or displaced to permit positioning of calibration or reference standards temporarily in front of the measurement head. An independent claim is made for a method for continuous online reference calibration of a spectrographic near infrared measurement system, e.g. for measuring product moisture.
