PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining apparatus which can quickly and accurately carry out the arcuate machining by cutting off the corner portion at the intersecting point of an optical fiber inserting hole of the ferrule and a tapered guide hole, and can reduce a manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The machining apparatus can arcuately cut the corner portion at the intersecting point of the optical fiber inserting hole 5 formed at the center of the ferrule 4 as a workpiece and the tapered guide hole at the inlet of the hole 5, and comprises a rotation device and a revolution device. A grinding wheel spindle 1 attached to a spindle 2 of the rotation device is provided with a fixed grain grinding wheel 3 which has a conical tip end portion 7 having a tip end diameter smaller than the inside diameter of the optical fiber inserting hole 5 and having a cone angle smaller than the cone angle of the tapered guide hole. The revolution device is provided with a weight spindle 9 which is arranged in approximately parallel with the grinding wheel spindle 1, and has a weight 10, and can swing. In addition, the weight spindle 9 is rotatably connected to the middle portion of the grinding wheel spindle 1 by means of a connecting element 11, and the optical fiber inserting hole 5 is brought into pressurized contact with the conical tip end portion of the fixed grain grinding wheel 3.
