A bottle adapter (300) is disclosed for use with a liquid refill kit for an automated cleansing sprayer of the type having a reservoir tray having an upwardly extending well (84) for supporting a bottle (22) in an inverted orientation, wherein the well (84) has a spring-loaded outlet valve. The refill kit includes the bottle (22) for containing a liquid. The bottle (22) has a piercable closure (333) sealing an end of the bottle (22). The adapter (300) has a central hole. The adapter (300) is suitable for being situated between the closure (333) and a bottom wall of the upwardly extending well (84) in the sprayer for supporting the bottle (22). The adapter (300) is configured such that if the bottle (22) and adapter (300) are installed in the well (84), movement of the closure (333) relative to the well (84) can result in movement of the adapter (300) which in turn can result in movement of the outlet valve that controls the opening and closing of the valve.
