Method for producing an extract (A) of figs (Ficus carica or related species) comprises grinding the fruit in an aqueous solution; sieving and clarification; decoloration with active carbon; concentration and precipitation with alcohol before concentration to produce a stabilized extract. An independent claim is also included for an extract (A) produced by the new method that contains a high concentration of polysaccharides and other molecules naturally present in figs. ACTIVITY : Dermatological; Antiseborrheic; Antiinflammatory; Antipruritic. No details of tests for these activities are given. MECHANISM OF ACTION : (A) reduce evaporation from the skin and form a barrier that (a) inhibits penetration of toxins and heavy metals and (b) adsorbs excreted toxins.
