PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for linking up respective ports of a switching hub capable of preventing frequent changeover of paths by refraining from using a port until an operator intervenes once the port is delinked by a circuit failure. SOLUTION: In the method of linking up the respective ports of the switching hub capable of setting either an automatic mode and a manual mode by a command during the automatic mode, the port is linked up when a cable is connected with the port of the switching hub, a link is established with a target device and delinked if the cable is disconnected, but the port is linked up again if the cable is re-connected. During the manual mode, even if the cable is connected with the port of the switching hub, the port is not linked up until a linkup permit command is input. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
