PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authenticity discrimination criteria updating system, a value medium processing apparatus and a data management apparatus, which detect a new illegal currency at an early stage and eliminate the use of the illegal currency. SOLUTION: In the authenticity discrimination criteria updating system, the value medium processing apparatus, which is provided with a feature reading means for reading features of a value medium as feature data and a authenticity discrimination means for discriminating the authenticity based on authenticity discrimination criteria for feature data, is connected to the data management apparatus provided with a communication means. The value medium processing apparatus has a transmission means for transmitting feature data, and the data management apparatus has a registration means for registering a newly generated criterion to the authenticity discrimination criteria of the value medium processing apparatus based on feature data.
