PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of joining a stainless steel pipe and an aluminum alloy pipe, a structure applicable to CO<SB>2</SB>coolant circuit piping and superior in strength and air-tightness, and also to provide the joining method. SOLUTION: A stainless steel pipe 1 is provided with a pipe end 1a that has ruggedness 3 on the outer peripheral surface 1b and a socket 4 that is installed integrally with the base part 1c of this pipe end 1a in a manner covering the pipe end 1a. After heated to 200-400°C, the end 2a of an aluminum alloy pipe 2 is inserted in a gap 5 between the socket 4 and the pipe end 1a and caulked by tightening in the centripetal direction of the socket 4 and/or expansion in the centrifugal direction of the pipe end 1a.
