<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable register device by preventing writing of wrong data. <P>SOLUTION: In a register device in which written data need to have a predetermined relation with data to be written next, data on a data bus 200 are retained in an n-bit register 110 only when the data on the data bus 200 satisfies a predetermined relation to the written data, whereby writing of wrong data is prevented to enhance the reliability of the register device. At the time of requesting a writing, data stored in the n-bit register 110 are compared with data on the data bus 200, and when the result has no determined relation, an error detection signal 400 is outputted to detect a failure in writing.
