PURPOSE: Provided is a method for making hard ceramics useful for ceramic brick materials or hard aggregate, which have excellent hardness, heat insulation property, fire resistance and waterproof property. CONSTITUTION: The method for making hard ceramics comprises the steps of: mixing raw materials including powdery glass materials, powder type alkali metal silicate and water soluble polymers in a predetermined ratio and drying the mixture; adding water thereto and forming the mixture into a desired shape; removing water partially; and heating and baking the resultant product. During the heating and baking step, oxide or hydroxide of the alkali metal silicate decreases the softening point of the powdery glass materials. When the powdery glass materials are present in a semi-fluid state, bubbles are formed due to the expansion of the air resulting from the alkali metal silicate and water of crystallization at high temperature, while the water soluble polymer is discharged in a gaseous form, thereby forming sealable pores inside of the final product and open pores on the surface of the final product.
