A bracket (9) may be inserted into a horizontally extending indentation (11) formed on the side of the patient bed (1). The shape of the bracket is adapted to the shape of the indentation in the inserting direction rather than the shape of the indentation in the extension direction such that a positive connection is automatically made when the bracket is inserted into the indentation. An independent claim is also included for a bracket.
