PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a resin for ink which has good adaptability to planographic printing, in respect of, for example, pigment dispersion, adaptability to emulsification, misting characteristics and dryability, and has adaptability to printing, comparable to those of previous rosin-modified phenolic resins, without using formaldehyde or its derivative undesirable from environmental hygienic viewpoints, i.e. a resol phenolic resin manufactured by using it.
SOLUTION: The resin for the ink comprises an esterified hydrocarbon resin. The method for manufacturing the esterified hydrocarbon resin comprises reacting a resin composition consisting of 70-98 wt.% of a hydrocarbon resin (A) containing a residue of a five-membered cyclic compound represented by formula (1) (wherein H is a hydrogen atom; R is a 1-3C alkyl group; and m and n are each an integer of 0 to 6, provided that m+n=6) and 2-30 wt.% of a polybutadiene (B) having a number-average molecular weight within a range of from 500 to 10,000 with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its anhydride to give an acid-modified hydrocarbon resin, and esterifying the obtained acid-modified hydrocarbon resin with a long-chain aliphatic alcohol.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
|
