PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dual fuel engine which requires no manual operation of a choke valve and materializes a simple startup. SOLUTION: In a dual fuel engine, if liquid fuel is selected by a fuel selecting means 1 during startup of an engine, a control means 4 activates an electric actuator 5 to bring a choke valve 3 to a totally closed state. If opening of the choke valve is reduced and gaseous fuel is selected by a fuel selecting means 1 during startup of an engine, the control means 4 activates or does not activate the electric actuator 5 to bring the choke valve 3 to a fully opened state.
