Device for monitoring a measurement transducer (2) of a field unit (1) for measuring a physical or chemical process value. The device comprises a sensor within the transducer housing (11) that regularly monitors the temperature and relative humidity within the housing. A regulation and evaluation unit is provided that determines the absolute humidity and or dew point within the housing and generates an alarm if the absolute humidity or dew point reaches a critical value.
