PURPOSE: Provided is an adhesive which has a high shear strength and a high viscosity and can be applied to the paper making process used in high temperature flying splice. CONSTITUTION: The adhesive comprises 25-45 wt% of a polymer; 55-75 wt% of an ethoxylated C20 alkylamine plasticizer; and 0.5-1.5 wt% of a crosslinking agent. The polymer comprises 30-60 wt% of acrylic acid, 30-60 wt% of butyl acrylate, 0-40 wt% of ethylhexyl acrylate and 0-10 wt% of a vinyl monomer; 50-90 wt% of acrylic acid, 10-50 wt% of butyl acrylate and 0-10 wt% of a vinyl monomer; or 50-90 wt% of acrylic acid, 5-30 wt% of butyl acrylate, 5-30 wt% of ethylhexyl acrylate and 0-10 wt% of a vinyl monomer. Preferably the polymer is free radical polymerized in a polar solvent. Preferably the crosslinking agent is aluminum chelate.
