A centrifugal compressor unit comprising a motor (34) and at least one compressor (44) comprising a steered shaft (54) driven by the rotor of the motor and blade wheels mounted on the steered shaft (54), said unit consisting of the motor and compressor being mounted in a common housing (55) which is tight in relation to the gas manipulated by the compressor unit. The rotor and the steered shaft are joined by means of a flexible coupling (72) disposed in the housing.
