EXTENDABLE STORAGE ASSEMBLY

A vehicle (12) having a storage area (14) in which is provided an extendable storage assembly (10) that includes mounting rails (16) secured within the storage area (14), a first support surface (18) slidably connected to, or captured by the mounting rails (16) and movable between a retracted position in which the first support surface (18) is located wholly within the storage area (14) and an extended position in which the first support surface (18) extends from the storage area (14) and protrudes from the vehicle (12), a second support surface (20) for supporting articles (30) to be transported in the vehicle (12), and wheels (32) on the second support surface (20), such that articles (30) may be loaded on to the second support surface (20), which second support surface (20) may in turn be wheeled on to the first support surface (18) that is extendable towards the extended position to provide access to the articles (30) from outside the vehicle (12). The invention also relates to a kit for the above assembly (10) and to a method of using such assembly (10).
