Novel markers for inflammatory bowel disease

Described is a diagnostic composition comprising nucleic acid molecules which are capable of specifically hybridizing to the mRNAs of genes showing abnormal gene expression associated with inflammatory bowel disease (e.g., Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC)). The use of said nucleic acid molecules for diagnosis of such diseases or a disposition to such diseases is also described.
