Data checking of a system containing a programme-controlled unit

The operating method for a program-controlled unit has data read from a memory (2) representing program commands checked for errors, to allow interruption or termination of the program when the data is not error-free, with initiation of an interrupt service routine. The latter is interrupted or terminated when the read data during its execution is not error-free and a second interrupt service routine is initiated. An Independent claim for a memory for storing data with an error detection device is also included.
