PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep performance deterioration at a relatively small rate during cache deallocation. SOLUTION: A data array 2 for storing the copies of data in main storage and an address array 1 for storing address information on the main storage of the data within the data array 2 and information indicating whether or not information is valid are each divided into two areas 11, 12, 21, 22 of the same size. A control part 8 composed of an error control part 3, a deallocation control part 4, a cache control part 5 and the like separates a failed area 11 in the event of failure in a divided area 11; thereafter, when access to a main storage address corresponding to the failed area 11 occurs, the control part uses other normal divided area 12 as the cache area of the main storage address corresponding to the failed area 11; when an access to the main storage address corresponding to the divided area 12 occurs, the other normal divided area 12 is used as the cache area of the main storage address corresponding to the divided area 12.
