PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hood lock device compact as compared with a conventional hood lock device and usable as also an over tilt lock without generating abnormal sound at the time of releasing the lock. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a hood hinge 7 rotatably and pivotally attached to a tilt center shaft 4 of a hood and mounted on the rear face of a front side of the hood, a hood stopper 8 inclinedly arranged so that a front end part may be rotatably and pivotally attached to the hood hinge 7 and has a downward gradient to a rear side, a guide slit 10 for forming a latching part 11 by extending the hood stopper 8 from the longitudinal direction middle part toward a rear end part side and bending the hood stopper 8 upward in the vicinity of the rear end part, a guide pin 12 slidably and loosely fitted into the guide slit 10 to fit into the latching part 11 of the guide slit 10 at the full open position at the time of developing the hood to the front, and a release lever 20 capable of holding the hood stopper 8 held at a lock position by fitting of the latching part 11 into the guide pin 12 at a lock releasing position by lifting the hood stopper 8 by a rotating operation.
