PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus by which an image without blurring can be speedily taken. SOLUTION: A digital camera is provided with a blurring detector (70) and a blurring correcter (80). The blurring detector (70) is provided with an angular rate sensor (71) composed of a piezoelectric gyroscope, two high-pass filters (73a and 73b), two integrators (74a and 74b), and a selecter (75) which selects one of correction signals outputted by the integrators (74a and 74b). Cutoff frequencies of the filter (73b) and the integrator (74b) are lower than those of the filter (73a) and the integrator (74a). The sensor (71), filters (73a and 73b) and the integrators (74a and 74b) go into action at the start of use of the digital camera. When an image to be displayed as a live view is taken, blurring is corrected according to a correction signal of the integrator (74a).
