1,127,417. Magnetic holding devices. H. J. MODREY. 12 July, 1966 [3 Aug., 1965], No. 31171/66. Heading H1P. A magnetic device for aligning a pin 3 of magnetic material, comprises a U-shaped magnet or electromagnet, the two arms of which contact a rear surface of a non-magnetic plate 2, the front surface of the plate having an elongated groove into which the pin 3 is attracted. Such a device forms part of a machine (Fig. 3, not shown) for inserting pins into a workpiece, the plate 2 having arms (26c) which define a guiding slot (26b) for receiving the pins from a shaft (24). Each pin is aligned in a slot (26a) and forced into the workpiece by a plunger (34). Grooves (80), (81) and movable guide plates (70), (71), (82) are provided for positioning the workpiece. |
