METHOD FOR ASSAYING NUCLEASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for simply and rapidly assaying a nuclease in water or an aqueous solution.

SOLUTION: The method is carried out as follows. A working electrode immobilizing a nucleic acid is dipped in an electrolyte containing the nuclease having properties of cleaving the nucleic acid at an unknown concentration to make the nuclease act on the nucleic acid. A current is then measured for a voltage range applied across the working electrode and a counter electrode in the electrolyte to determine the amount of the nuclease from the measured change in current with time.
