<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent element displaying high luminous efficiency although a substance having a semiconductor interface of a type II is contained in a luminescent layer, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: This electroluminescent element is provided with a first carrier injection layer to inject a positive charge carrier, a second carrier injection layer to inject a negative charge carrier, and the luminescent layer containing a mixture of a first component to receive the positive charge carrier from the first charge carrier injection layer, a second component to receive the negative charge carrier from the second charge carrier injection layer, and a third component forming an organic luminescent component to generate light when the charge carriers from the first component and the second component are combined, while being located between the charge carrier injection layers.
