PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digestion absorption suppressant and a food GI value diminishing agent inhibiting digestion absorption and diminishing GI value for food made from various carbohydrate, and to provide food containing the suppressant and the diminishing agent.

SOLUTION: This digestion absorption suppressant has as the main ingredient a water-soluble high polymer and suppresses digestion absorption of food through being added to the food. The food GI value diminishing agent has as the main ingredient a water-soluble high polymer and diminishes GI value of food through being added to the food. The food containing the digestion absorption suppressant and the GI value diminishing agent is also provided.
