PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lapping apparatus suitably lapping a work having a circular-arc working surface incompletely round in section. SOLUTION: This lapping apparatus includes: a cartridge 70 constructed so that a lapping film 73 is stored in a housing 72, and a shoe 71 disposed on the back of the lapping film is fixed to the housing; a holding unit 20 holding the cartridge to be freely moved forward and backward to the work; a cartridge pressing unit 30 pressing the abrasive grain surface of the lapping film to the work by the shoe; and a rotary driving unit for driving the work to rotate. In lapping the work having a circular-arc working surface incompletely round in section, the whole of the cartridge 70 is displaced according to the rotation of the work.
