PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projected image correction apparatus for designating an optional area in a projected image to correct distortion and projecting a resulting image to a projection face of a free shape so as to project more natural images on the projection face. SOLUTION: A distortion image generating section 12c references the shape data of the projection face obtained by a projection face acquisition means 14 to generate a distortion correction image resulting from correcting distortion of an image in a distortion correction area designated by a distortion correction area designation means 15 among projected images obtained by an image input means 11, composes the distortion correction image with an image in a no-distortion correction area whose distortion is not corrected among the projected images and projects the composed image on the projection face of a screen 23 via an image output means 13. A shaping section 12e furthermore applies partial correction to an image in an area designated as a shaping area by a shaping area designation means 16 among peripheral areas including the joining parts between the distortion correction area and the no-distortion correction area. A plurality of optional areas can be designated for the distortion correction area and the shaping area, and the distortion correction area designation means 15 can indicate distortion correction contents for each area.
