The method involves cutting each bale of hay (1), which presents a given voluminous mass of animal feed, in a parallelopiped manner to form a chunk (23) of the hay. The chunk has preset dimensions which define the volume of the animal feed. Each cut chunk (23) is individually conditioned in a packing in a manner to form a packet of packed animal feed (31). An independent claim is also included for a device of conditioning of animal feed.
