PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hanging device which is easily attached to and detached from projections of various dimensions, has beautiful appearance and does not obstruct anything. SOLUTION: The hanging device can be clamped on a projection with a clamping part that is provided on a main body and a clamping part that is provided on a sliding body. The main body is equipped with an arm to be turned, the arm is equipped with a turning body to be turned together, the sliding body is equipped with a rack gear part, and the turning body is equipped with a pinion gear part so that the pinion gear part can be engaged with and disengaged from the rack gear part. When the pinion gear part and the rack gear part are disengaged, the sliding body is freely slid, but when these gear parts are engaged, the sliding body can be slid on turning the turing body. In the state of disengaging the pinion gear part and the rack gear part, the sliding body is slid to bring its clamping part closer to the clamping part of the main body. The arm is then turned downward to engage the turning body with the rack gear part for sliding the sliding body, and the clamping part of the sliding body is brought further closer to the clamping part of the main body, thereby clamping the hanging device on the projection.
