Mechanically jointed heat exchanger, especially for a motor vehicle, comprises at least one collecting tank (2) consisting of a base (3) with passages (10) receiving pipes (40), especially pipes with a round or oval cross-section, and a lid (4) with at least one fluid connection and one pipe/ribbed block. The base and the lid are deep-drawn parts made of an aluminum alloy and have a trough-like shape with high edges (4a). The base and the lid are inserted inside each other in a box-like manner and are held together by a clip connection and a seal (13a, 13b). Preferred Features: The lid has at its edge a peripheral channel (11) into which the edge of the base engages.
