<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carton for a powdery wherein the lid opening operation is extremely smoothly performed, and in addition, the engaging does not become loose even after the number of times for the opening/closing is increased, and which is equipped with a locking mechanism for preventing a lid part from opening easily even when an external force is applied when not being used or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A tab 12 is projected to face downward at the center of the lower edge of a front board 3B of the lid part 3, and a protruding shape engaging piece 12 is cut on the internal side of the tab 11. At the same time, a horizontal folding ruled line 14 is engraved between the lower ends on the right and the left of the engaging piece 12 and the upper ends on the right and the left of the tab 11. Then, the wholes of the tab 11 and the engaging piece 12 are made freely turnable with the folding ruled line 14 as a pivotal center. On the front surface plate 1A of a box body 1, an engaging hole 5 having a size in which the engaging piece 12 can be inserted is formed at a location corresponding to the engaging piece 12 of the lid part 3.
