PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ice storage type water cooler capable of raising a temperature of water in a heat exchanger in a short time period during ice melting operation and exhibiting enhanced ice melting efficiency. SOLUTION: This ice storage type water cooler equipped with a freezer, the heat exchanger and an ice storage tank is provided with a freezing detection means for detecting freezing of a heat storage medium inside the heat exchanger during ice making operation of the ice storage type water cooler, and a control means for supplying a high temperature refrigerant to the heat exchanger from the freezer while supplying the heat storage medium to the heat exchanger at an ordinary speed when freezing is detected by the freezing detection means, supplying the heat storage medium to the heat exchanger at a speed lower than the ordinary speed by a flow rate adjusting means when it is detected that freezing is released to a predetermined state by the freezing detection means, and stopping supply of the high temperature medium after a predetermined time period.
