A helical infeed element (42) has a forward section (54) that engages a harvested crop material, and a rearward section (58) adjacent to the threshing section of a conical rotor drum. The forward section has a radial portion (60) extending radially outward from the conical rotor drum, and an outermost portion (62) that is forwardly swept towards the rotation direction. The helical infeed elements are mounted to the infeed section of the conical rotor drum. The threshing section of the drum is used to threshed the harvested crop material from the infeed section. A separating section enables the separation of the grain from the threshed crop material received from the threshing section. An Independent claim is also included for a rotary combine for harvesting, threshing and separating an agricultural crop.
