The motor vehicle has at least one deployable hydraulic bridging element (20,22) for bridging the gap between at least two components in an accident by supplying the bridging element with fluid from a fluid reservoir (32,34). The reservoir is arranged and formed so that its storage volume reduces as a result of an impact-related force acting on the vehicle and hence supplies the bridging element with fluid and deploys it.
