PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbonization apparatus of the furnace inside-cooling system which can shorten the cooling time after carbonization by a simple constitution. SOLUTION: In the carbonization apparatus, a heat exchanger 4 for allowing air to flow to effect heat exchange is provided outside a carbonization furnace 1, piping 16a for sending a high temperature gas in the carbonization furnace 1 to the heat exchanger 4 is connected to the upper part of the carbonization furnace 1 and the upper part of the heat exchanger 4, and its return piping 16b is connected to the lower part of the carbonization furnace 1 and the lower part of the heat exchanger 4, and by providing an inlet 22a for air to cooling pipes 22 of the heat exchanger 4 at the upper part of the heat exchanger 4 and its discharge outlet 22b at the lower part of the heat exchanger 4, the high temperature gas in the furnace is subjected to natural convection and circulated through the heat exchanger 4 without using a separate blower or the like, and thus the inside of the furnace can be uniformly cooled in a short period of time by a simple constitution.
