PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the production cost of a vehicle by commonizing the parts of a right-hand steering car and a left-hand steering car. SOLUTION: An air bag body 2 is formed generally symmetrically in the lateral direction. At least one vent holes 15 and 16 for degassing are formed in the left side wall 8 and right side wall 9 of the air bag body 2. The air bag body is formed so that, when the air bag body 2 is deployed, a flown-out gas amount is different between the vent hole 15 in the left side wall 8 and the vent hole 16 in the right side wall 9. A pressure is differentiated between the right and left inner sides of the air bag body 2 in the deployed state to change the flown-out gas amount from the vent holes 15 and 16 according to the installed position of the air bag device 1. Thus, regardless of whether the position of the steering wheel of the vehicle is in right side or left side, the air bag body 2 comes into contact with an occupant with a uniform pressure in the lateral direction.
