PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle steering device capable of executing the failsafe operation instantly in accordance with the vehicle speed at the time of failsafe in which the actual steering angle can not follow up after the target steering angle. SOLUTION: The vehicle steering device of such a structure that a steering wheel 1 of the vehicle and a steering gear 7 for steering wheels 5 of the vehicle are connected together through a clutch 11, is furnished with a vehicle speed sensor 12 to sense the speed of the vehicle, wherein at the reaction force control step S5, an operation hindering reaction force is generated when sensing is made that the steering gear 7 has reached the maximum steering angle at the maximum steering sensing step S4, and at the failsafe judging steps S6 and S7, judgement is made whether proceeding to the step S8 is made and the failsafe operation is executed or proceeding to the step S5 is made and the operation hindering reaction force is generated in accordance with the vehicle speed sensed by the sensor 12 in case the deviation of the actual steering angle from the target steering angle is equal to or exceeding the specified value.
