PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antiallergic agent and a health food from a rhizome of Alpinia galanga and an ingredient extracted from the rhizome of Alpinia galanga.

SOLUTION: The allergic agent comprises the rhizome of Alpinia galanga or the ingredient extracted from the rhizome of Alpinia galanga. The health food comprises the ingredient extracted from the rhizome of Alpinia galanga. The antiallergic agent and the health food each comprise a specific phenylpropanoid compound contained in the rhizome of Alpinia galanga.
