PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a height meter which is capable of measuring height by engraving tangent scales which can calculate height easily without measuring a horizontal distance up to an object through measurement of elevation angle at two optional points, without using a protractor, a calculator, a trigonometric function table and the like. SOLUTION: The horizontal distance is measured in this height meter, after the optional elevation angle is determined, by engraving the tangent scales, contrary to the conventional procedural order that the elevation angle is measured after the measuring position is determined for the object.
