PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for an inkjet head which can jet ink droplets in a proper direction at all times by paying attention to a moment when the ink droplet separates from a meniscus, and controlling the meniscus state. SOLUTION: Three ink channels adjacent to each other are made one set. Three ink channels of each set are sequentially driven to jet ink droplets which become recording dots. Before the ink droplet jetted from a specific ink channel separates from the meniscus, a third driving pulse for generating positive pressure waves in the ink channel is applied. At the time when the ink droplet separates from the ink channel, the inkjet head is driven to draw in the meniscus in an inside direction of the ink channel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
