<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device having good efficiencies of vertical and lateral stirring of a developer, dispersion of a replenished toner, and buildup of toner charging, with respect to applied energy to drive the entire developing device, and to provide an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A developer stirring and conveying member consists of a rotating shaft which is connected to a motor and rotated, a conveying part in which a developer is conveyed mainly parallel to the rotating shaft by a spiral blade member formed around the rotating shaft, and a stirring part in which a developer is mainly sheared and stirred by a plurality of linear members with both ends or parts close to both ends fixed on the spiral blade member in such a way that the members are made parallel or oblique to the rotating shaft, wherein a maximum value BMAX of the sum B(=Σb) of lengths of sections of the linear members in the stirring part in a normal direction of the rotating shaft is set to have the relations of Rc<BMAX≤50Rc and 0.01(D-d)<BMAX≤0.2(D-d). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
