PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric light display method for an audio device in which operating condition is instantaneously discriminated. SOLUTION: In the method of an audio device, display contents of an electric light display device are controlled by a microcomputer 1. Characters and pictures of a display screen 5 related to the operating items of keys 7 on an operating panel surface of the device are made to correspond to each other and prerecorded in a memory device 3. When the keys 7 are operated, the microcomputer 1 selects the characters and the pictures of the screen 5, which are related to the operating items of the keys 7 being operated on the operating panel screen, from the device 3. Then, a display driving voltage of the electric light display device is controlled by the microcomputer 1 so that only the characters and the pictures related to the keys 7 being operated are more brightly displayed than other characters and pictures that are not related.
