METHOD FOR WIRE-DRAWING MAGNESIUM BASE ALLOY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for wire-drawing a magnesium alloy for obtaining a magnesium alloy wire having excellent strength and toughness. SOLUTION: In this method, wire drawing of plural passes is performed by continuously passing the material to be worked of the magnesium base alloy through a plurality of dies. The material to be worked contains, by weight, 1.0-10.0% Zn. The wire drawing is performed after heating the material 20 to be worked with a heating means 11 on the upstream side of each die 13. It is preferable that the heating temperature is 150-350°C. It is preferable to install a cooling means 12 between the heating means 11 and the die 13. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
