PURPOSE: A backlight unit for an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to form the thickness of the incidence surface more thicker than that of the outgoing surface, thereby enhancing the efficiency of the incidence light, so the efficiency of a color mixing, and simultaneously reducing the thickness and weight of the light guide plate. CONSTITUTION: A light guide panel(61) is constructed to a rear surface of the LCD panel and its incidence surface is thicker than its outgoing surface. An LED(Light Emitting Diode) lamp(62) is constructed to a side of the light guide panel(61) and emits light by a plurality of red, green, and blue light emitting diodes arranged one-dimensionally. A housing(63) fixes the LED lamp(62) and condenses the light emitted from the LED lamp(62) toward a direction. The reflection plate(64) is constructed to a lower end portion of the light guide panel(61) and reflects the light leaking into the reverse side of the LCD panel.
