The incubator has an air jet unit (6) positioned above a patient surface (1) for directing an air stream onto the latter having a climatized inner core air stream (4) enclosed by an outer air mantle (5). The patient surface is enclosed by a channel edge region (9) coupled to the air jet unit via a feed channel (13) containing a fan (11) and a heating and humidifying device (12) for providing the climatized inner core air stream.
