<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maximum value projection image whose concentration resolution of a necessary range is relatively improved by suppressing an unnecessary range by taking account of characteristics of the necessary range and the unnecessary range. <P>SOLUTION: For determining whether an attended pixel is a part of a narrowly continuing range like a blood vessel or a part of a wide range like a fat range, values of the pixels of several ranges near the attended pixel are obtained to find each mean value of the values of pixels for every direction passing through the attended pixel (process 5). The maximum value Max and its direction dmax are found among the mean values (Mean (0)-(12)) found in the process 5 (process 6). A mean value MS in the direction approximating the direction dmax of the maximum value Max found in the process 6 is found (process 7). A difference value P' obtained by subtracting the mean value MS from the maximum value Max is found (process 8). The difference values P' of all the pixels constituting three-dimensional image data are found and used for the maximum value projection (process 9-12). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
