PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic shot-peening treating machine and an ultrasonic shot-peening treating apparatus for obtaining the surface layer having nano-crystal structure and also, various kinds of characteristics and for effectively obtaining the surface layer having the above characteristics and for obtaining high fatigue resistant characteristic. SOLUTION: This ultrasonic shock treating machine is composed of a transducer for generating the ultrasonic wave, an oscillator for transmitting the oscillation of the transducer into an oscillating plate, the oscillating plate fitted to the oscillator, a holder for sealing a space between the oscillating plate and the faced treating surface containing at least the outer periphery of the oscillating plate, and shot grains shifted into the sealing space. Further, the ultrasonic shot-peening treating apparatus is provided with a sound detecting means for detecting sound energy from the treating surface, an interval adjusting means for adjusting the interval between the treating surface and the oscillating plate, a means for shifting to the ultrasonic shot-peening treating machine, a metallic powder feeding means, a heating means and a sealed gas feeding means.
