<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable writing utensil, the functioning feel through the pressing functioning of a push button of which is favorable and which has a rotary cam allowing to easily retract and extend the writing tip part of a writing refill and preferably which is equipped with a safety mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: In the retractable writing utensil equipped with the retracting and extending mechanism of a writing refill by the rotary cam, at the rear of the rotary cam, a cam groove forming member is arranged turnably only towards its direction of rotation so as to form a dale groove out of a first crest part formed in the barrel and a second crest part formed in the cam groove forming member. When the engagement of an engaging part is released from a disengaging member under the condition that the projected part of the rotary cam engages with the dale groove, the projected part of the rotary cam presses the first or the second crest part by means of the engaging force of a coiled spring, resulting in rotating the cam groove forming member by means of the pressing force and consequently separating the first crest part and the second crest part forming the dale groove from each other so as to form a recessed groove between the first crest part and the second crest part in order to retract a writing tip part. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
