SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECOGNIZING IRIS USING WAVELET PACKET TRANSFORM, AND RECORDING MEDIUM STORING PROGRAM

PURPOSE: A system and a method for recognizing an iris using the wavelet packet transform, and a recording medium storing a program are provided to extract an iris image without a loss of information by using an edge detecting method, a bisection method, and an elastic body model. CONSTITUTION: A minutia vector database(40) previously registers a minutia vector for discriminating a user. An iris image extractor(10) extracts the iris image from an eye image inputted from the outside by using the edge detecting method, the bisection method, and the elastic body model. A minutia vector extractor(20) extracts the minutia vector through a statistical method by performing the wavelet packet transform and the multi-division for the extracted iris image, and finding out an iris minutia area from the multi-divided area. A recognizer(30) discriminates the user by comparing the minutia vector extracted from the minutia vector extractor with the minutia vector registered to the minutia vector database.
